1. When and Why Did You Decide to Pursue This Dive At This Level? What was your inspiration and motivation?

I decided to pursue this dive because making music is one of my favorite hobbies in life. The inspiration I have for poetry and songwriting started in my secondary school days.

I have loved and idolized a handful of artists and I know some of these artists are not even writers, but vocalists so it’s natural for me to reason more with the ones that write their own stuff before performing. My motivation is simple and it is a simple fact — there are millions of folks around the world who can write poetry as well as songs much better than many of the songwriters we already know and vice versa.

Everything is a matter of time before you hit it, but without trying, none of these promises and dreams are even worth discussing. There is this quote I personally live by, “The fact that I am HERE doesn’t mean I will not get THERE. The difference between HERE and THERE is “T” which is Time.”

2. How Long Did It Take For You To Accomplish This Dive At This Level From The Day You Decided To Pursue It, And Why Did It Take That Long?

You know everything valuable is achieved at the expense of time. Time is a resource that can never be recycled. You just have to make the very best out of it.

It took me a period of 4-5 months to write and edit not only songs but other written works of mine as well. My publisher, his chief editor, and the rest of the team members were there as critics, guides, and everything else.

So you see, it is a procedure that is time consuming with a lot of sacrifices, patience, and endurance. That is why it took me all this while.

During this period, I also had many other things to attend to. Not only studies, but I also had chores to do on my own or at home. Again, since this is a creative work, I know that when I am on my own I can instantly create a melody out of the blue alone enjoying my own company or in the company of others but that is not the same as the content you have to write.

3. What Was The Hardest Part About Achieving This Particular Dive Level?

For me, the hardest part is the content of what you write has to be good. It doesn’t matter if you keep writing, what matters is how well you are doing, and since this is subjective to a particular level, that sums it up. I mean — you are a beginner, you have to prove a lot.

Another important point taken during my trials is that you have to know what kind of critics you need to show your material to. Also, to achieve this dive is never easy honestly. I did not even consider the genre to focus on, rather I focused on what I feel is good for me, and honestly it is complicated at times. It is not only about you the artist but the general public.

4. What Was The Easiest Part About Achieving This Particular Dive Level?

I believe the easiest part for me is the passion I have for this particular dive level for me it is a breakthrough. Another point duly taken is the support I got from a lot of individuals. It touches my heart the amount of support I received.

This particular dive level like any other one has its own unique requirements and to my utmost satisfaction, it is simple and straightforward, you have to write a song to pursue it. I write my songs and compose them as a hobby so I used this to my advantage in pursuing this particular dive level. Last but not least, was believing in myself to go for this particular level.

5. What Is Your Advice For Someone Who Is Pursuing This Dive And Level?

Most importantly, my advice for anyone pursuing this level of the dive is to keep it simple and be themselves. Remember, we all have our unique goals and talents. They should try and produce something productive, something good for fun. Music is fun and that is it.

We are all here to learn from one another, always reach out to other friends not necessarily the ones we share similar interests with. This is a worldwide community and we need to think beyond expectations.

Your personality matters a lot. If you happen to be pursuing this dive and level, bear in mind respect is reciprocal. It is never easy. I am advising everyone pursuing this level to buckle up.

6. What Are Some Of The Best Resources You Recommend to Those Pursuing This Dive At This Level, And Why Do You Recommend Them? Please Include Relevant Weblinks, If Applicable.

The following is a list of my recommendations for anyone pursuing this level of dive:

Resource 1: Broad Jam - You can get feedback from music professionals. You stand many chances in what you are pursuing.

Resource 2: Songs Alive - A charity organization where you meet people who share your passion for music and goals of being a songwriter.

Resource 3: ASCAP - A professional organization for songwriters, composers, and music publishers.

Resource 4: BMI - A bridge between writers and promotional dealers. BMI represents artists’ performance rights.

Resource 5: Song Writer's Pad - Consists of everything a songwriter needs to kick start their careers.

7. Tell Us A Story Of One Of Your Adventures While Pursuing This Dive (At This Level).

I still remember when I first met my publisher online. We chatted and I sent him a poem I wrote as a trailer for my upcoming novel that was on hiatus because of my shorter works.

After going through it, he told me that he liked it personally and gave me his mail, and asked me to forward my written works, audiobooks, and everything. We maintained a strong professional relationship ever since.

This publisher introduced me to his chief editor, explaining to me how things work. They kept on encouraging me to put more focus on my shorter works — my poems and songs.

All over it was a new experience for me. I came to know and share different ideas with people within and outside their company. Pretty soon my publisher sent me a welcome letter and a sample of an addendum for me to go through and see if it was something that I was ok to sign. He assisted me through every phase.

8. What Evidence Did You Submit to Prove You Met the Requirements for This Dive and Level?

I submitted a copy of my publishing agreement to the Break Diving dive committee for verification.

9. Will You Be Pursuing The Next Level For This Dive? If Yes, Why? If Not, Why Not?

Yes, I will. This is one of my greatest hobbies. I keep reminding myself it is only natural to keep my pace in this particular dive of interest. With each level, I believe it is a step forward. The higher you go the cooler it becomes and, believe me, I like it cool. I want to leave my mark as a songwriter, soI need to go further and further. I want to inspire and be inspired.
