1. When and Why Did You Decide to Pursue This Dive At This Level? What was your inspiration and motivation?

I started studying for this dive as a child in grade school. I continue to study English and will continue to do so because I also aspire to work in HR (human resources), as an actress, and also as a business woman, so learning English is one the most important factors I have to work on. And that’s why I decided to pursue English as a dive, because I plan to become certified as Linguist – Level – Elite.

2. How Long Did It Take For You To Accomplish This Dive At This Level From The Day You Decided To Pursue It, And Why Did It Take That Long?

It took months of practice and hard work, alongside dedication and belief in myself. English is a compulsory language in my school and it is actually the official language of my country, Nigeria. Therefore, one is forced to put aside ones native language in order to speak English fluently. Also, every examination was written in English, and it was a compulsory subject. I am good at expressing myself but only by voice, writing not too much. So with English as my main subject, I had to learn in any way I could. I read novellas, watched English films, communicated with my peers in English so as to be corrected when I make any errors, etc. I also imitated English actors when they spoke. Even my family members had to deal with my constant imitation which would always ruin the movies!

3. What Was The Hardest Part About Achieving This Particular Dive Level?

The hardest part is understanding what is being taught and storing in ones memory, as English is one broad subject that requires concentration. It is a problem when ones tongue is trained to speak ones native language, making it difficult to adjust. It is also time consuming, as learning and proficiency does not happen in one day.

4. What Was The Easiest Part About Achieving This Particular Dive Level?

The easiest part is that I speak English everyday, which makes it easy for daily improvements. I am also surrounded with people who speak English everyday so it makes it easier for me to learn new things everyday and put it into practice.

5. What Is Your Advice For Someone Who Is Pursuing This Dive And Level?

The everyday speaking of English makes it easier to improve, so that means, once you learn something new in English, put it into practice as often as you can. Also, you have to feel like The Boss, because that is what English transforms one to – The Boss!

Two things that should be your friends: Google (which guides you with pronunciation and spelling) and English movies (which will help you learn new words and how to use them in a sentence). You have to be dedicated and ready for new words because just as the world evolves, so does the English Language. The dictionary should also be your friend as it opens ones mind to new words.
